9 Worst Cars You Can Buy

2) Mitsubishi MiEV

The Mitsubishi MiEV physically resembles a Smart car but with a backseat. Though it gets 111 MPGe, it has average reliability, and the $22,995 sticker price makes it the cheapest electric car on the market. It was still the lowest rated car in the compact electric/hybrid category. Consumer Reports noted several concerns with the vehicle, including describing it as slow and stiff with an unimpressive interior. This is in stark contrast to the manufacturer description, which says the car is “bringing together style, comfort and nimble agility.” With a 240-volt Level 2 charger it takes 6 to 7 hours to charge. Using a standard 110-volt charger, it takes 21 hours. Consumer Reports says the Nissan Leaf is a better option and the Toyota Prius is the highest rated vehicle in the Compact Electric/hybrid category.
