12 Things Real Estate Agents Would Hate You to Know

12) Some Web Listings are Fake

Sometimes, real estate agents put up fake listings to attract clients. These listings will typically include places which will attract interest. Real estate agents will also sometimes keep up a listing for a house they sold already to attract clients. Once someone calls to find out about this home, the real estate agent will tell them that that the place is no longer available. This is called “bait and switch.” Then, they’ll offer to show them another house or apartment. Most agents won’t do this, but some will use this tactic to attract new customers. It can be tough to tell the fake listings from the real ones, so if a listing does catch your eye, it’s worth it to call the agent. Even if that listing doesn’t pan out, you may even get lucky and they’ll have another place available that you like.
