
8) Jasper
The southwestern region of the state is home to lovely little town called Jasper. Boasting points include comfortable summer temperatures in the mid-70s, very low crime rates, and low unemployment rates. Jasper is a small- town, suitable for folks who like to know their neighbors and desire a community feel. The Patoka River runs through town and the Jasper Riverwalk is lovely 2-mile trail for walking, running, and biking. The Indiana Baseball Hall of fame is located here, highlighting the high school, college, and professional sport stars that hail from Indiana. With a population of 15,500, the only positive aspect this friendly city doesn’t offer is compatible real estate prices as compared with the median annual income. While not outrageous, buying a home in Jasper will cost you (on average) 11% more than in the rest of the state.
