9 Tips for Living Without a Bank Account and Fees

4) Send Payments Using Money Orders

Paying bills is a necessary fact of life, and when it comes time to do so, you may not know the best way to pay without transferring money from a bank account. To avoid sending cash, which can be a risky thing to do, you may benefit from using money orders. Similar to checks, money orders are paper documents that allow for money transfer. You can buy them at various places, such as the post office or grocery store. There may be small fees associated with money orders, but they’re generally not very expensive. When paying bills using money orders, you should keep your receipt in case the money order goes missing, as that will make it easier to cancel and reissue it. The receipt will also allow you to track the money order, making sure the funds get where they are intended to go.
