11 Cheapest Places In New York To Buy A Home

11) Horseheads

Last on this list is a town called Horseheads. The name “Horseheads” may sound funny as a town name, but it holds great historical significance. The original name of the town was “The Valley of Horses Heads” because of horse skulls that were placed along a trail in the area. The Native Americans at the time wanted to send a message to people who may come upon them to stay away. To preserve this history, the Horseheads History Society put multiple initiatives in place. This group is in control of the museums and the Zim House. The Zim house is an historical home that once belonged to the famous political caricaturist, Eugene Zimmerman. People from all over come to the area to visit this home. To live in Horsehead, a home would cost an average $119,312.
