7) Milford, Connecticut

Milford, Connecticut is an east coast city that is situated on the harbor between Bridgeport and New Haven. The community, though fairly scenic and comprised of lush green forestry, Milford suffers from an absence of vibrant culture and is has extremely high living costs. Real estate prices are slightly above the nation’s median, however the city is relatively inefficient when it comes to transportation and walkability. Lack of pedestrian influenced areas makes it difficult for retirees to get around, especially if they no longer drive or have certain physical limitations. While outdoor activities are easy to engage in, Milford does not have a wealth of general entertainment opportunities such as live music or theater performances. It is considered one of the top five worst cities to retire in and is in the heart of the east coast where residents can experience severe winters and sub-zero temperatures.
