If climate is of high importance on your retirement expedition, then stay away from Corpus Christi, Texas. Best known for its home to the Tejano legend known as Selena, Corpus Christi is a small city on the Gulf of Mexico with rich naval history and a respectable enthusiasm for live music. Many of its residents are of Latin American descent, and many young folks relocate to the city to attend school at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. One of the most popular historic attractions includes the USS Lexington, which was featured in the World War II inspired film known as Pearl Harbor. While Corpus Christi boasts much potential for outdoor activities and houses diverse cultures pertaining to farming and surfing, the practicality for retirees is fairly low. Corpus Christi wears very hot temperatures through the spring and summer. The ocean contains tiny jellyfish larvae that may sting and cause irritation on contact with the water. The city also brings many tourists in, which can promote an undesirable atmosphere at local bars, restaurants, and shops. Young college students would do well in a city such as Corpus Christi, however retirees may be required to exert a little more effort than they had hoped for.
