11 Cheapest Places in the US to Buy a Home

11) Geneva, New York

Geneva is the third New York town to make the list. The average home value is $93,900, with the median home price of current listings being $92,400. The median income is $31,600. It’s located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, about an hour from the more metropolitan cities of Syracuse and Rochester. Tourism is a major industry in the area because of the more than 100 wineries in the region, and Geneva, sitting at the north end of the lake, is a great starting point for the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. The lake produces a unique climate that has enabled the growth of the wine industry. It’s also the deepest lake in the state, nicknamed the “Lake Trout Capital of the World,” and is the site of the annual National Lake Trout Derby. Geneva received the All America City Award in 2015.
