9) Supporting Family Members
Depending on the age at which you retire, you may be at a stage in your life during which you may need to support family members, be they children, a spouse, or grandchildren. There are nearly unlimited sets of circumstances which may leave you as a caretaker or financial supporter, and some of these cannot easily be prepared for. In these cases, it may be necessary for you to return to work in order to keep up financially. In addition, if the situation which requires you to support your family is particularly stressful, having a regularly scheduled obligation can help to distract you and pull your focus away from ruminating on the negative things going on in life.
