9 Worst Jobs in the United States

6) Advertising Sales Representative

These are the people who sell advertising space to businesses or individuals. It’s a social job that requires on-site client meetings and lots of talking, schmoozing, and convincing – after all, it’s a sales job! Those who have the gift of persuasion can excel in this position, climb the career ladder, and make a comfortable living. The median salary for entry-level jobs in 2016 was $50,380, making it the highest paying job on our list. But, by 2024 the BLS expects to see a 3% decrease in this position. This is largely due to an increase in digital advertising. Businesses can use software and post their own ads online, cutting out the middle man (i.e. the advertising sales person). Although technology hasn’t completely taken over, this is currently a competitive field to break into. If you’re a “people person” who thrives under pressure, this could be a lucrative career.
